Often related to organ music, Dubois seems completely unknown to the repertoire of pianists today, his music is romantic and show us a very deep understanding of piano technique - that means he was not an organist composing music for piano.
The proposal by Didier Bertrand, a friend which I knew in person in 2008 for the first time, was a selection of works by Dubois which includes the 12 Etudes de Concert. While checking the selected repertoire I noticed there was almost 2 hours of music in my friend's list and I decided start with the “12 Etudes” plus the “Scherzo Op.10” and the “Scherzo et Choral Op.18” as the pieces for the first CD.
Since the repertoire is very interesting, we will publish during 2018 two CDs with all these Dubois selected works, including, in the second CD, the works “Poemes Sylvestres”, “Poemes Virgiliens”, “Reverie-Prelude Op.12”, “Adagio”, “Theme Varié” and the suite “Les Heures”.
The Youchoose Music Project idea is showing the importance of researching unknown repertoire, I always ask myself how many great composers are forgotten now because of a blind market and a deaf public?…
