The idea of "Eccentric Preludes" is the same of the "bagatelle" in Beethoven times, but the freedom in composition nowadays can make the real eccentric music. The title is also a small reference to Vladimir Horowitz who composed an "Eccentric Dance" in his youth but became famous as pianist only. The second set of Eccentric preludes (Op.13) was composed with the Stuart & sons pianos in mind. These pieces use the full range of 102 keys of these special pianos.
These pieces can be heard on the CD "Artur Cimirro plays Stuart & Sons in Terra Australis". |
